About Me

I was born in 1962 in Cisterna di Latina.

After high school, I enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce where I managed to achieve good results, but I did not conclude my studies because, in 1990, I decided to open a didactic service centre in my country where we have strongly experienced the validity of humanistic-affective teaching, for thirty years.

In my Panta Rei Study Centre for education services, training and support courses for children, adolescents and adults, I was able to express myself and become an entrepreneur and leader of teaching staff.

Thanks to the individual and collective projects carried out during my work, I managed to understand my real vocation: working with people and for people. For this reason, I decided to complete another degree, this time in education sciences and training. It was a first level degree course as “Professional Educator” at the Lumsa University of Rome, where I graduated with honors, in 2004.

In 2006, I began to operate as president of the ODV, the Ponte Onlus (founded September 27, 1985), with the intention of developing a culture inspired by the promotion of the human in his entirety and complexity and the enhancement of dignity, autonomy, planning, pursuing purposes of solidarity, prevention of discomfort, marginality and child deviance, with special reference to drug addiction.

With psychologists and entertainers, we managed the “Centro d’ascolto” a service of the Municipality of Cisterna di Latina for minors at risk and, in 2008, we associated with Libera (an antimafia organisation), quickly becoming a garrison on the territory for which I was the contact person.

But my intense passion for the human and his infinite facets, prompted me to want to explore other worlds and cultures. In 2017, after my master’s degree in teaching and promotion of the Italian language and culture at the Cà Foscari University of Venice and a sabbatical year, during which I traveled to Holland, England and the USA, where I studied the English language at university and in language schools, I realised the time had come to test myself in other countries. In January 2020, I decided to move to England and teach our language and culture there, believing in the validity of intercultural pedagogy.

Today, I am in Sheffield, I teach online and in the presence of students of different nationalities and I work part-time with a company that works with people with special needs and mental illnesses.

The daily challenges continue and my nature as an educator has remained intact.

Methodology

I am convinced that formation means to bring out the potential of people and this is what I did with the hundreds of students with whom I collaborated.

Humanistic-affective approach
It is the student who is at the centre of the learning process, in a work climate characterised by mutual trust and dialogue. In this environment, the freedom of learning manifests itself as the liberation of the curiosity of the student, who does not limit himself to memorising notions, but implements a real research process.

The role of the teacher is interactive. A climate of collaboration with students is necessary in order to create a situation that eliminates the sources of stress and exceeds the institutional superiority of the magister. The teacher in the educational and didactic field becomes a facilitator.

The lesson is taken together, like a walk with friends. Friends of knowledge. The lesson is more engaging if there is a desire to participate with the intellect and emotion.

Italian language lessons

My new role as an Italian tutor is the result of my past, a lot of experience and an unstoppable passion.

For Italian language and culture lessons, I mainly use the text of Prof. Paolo E. Balboni of the Cà Foscari University of Venice.

The lessons are divided into phases to follow the natural path of acquisition: a phase of global comprehension, intuitive and general, with lots of use of visual memory. The phase in which the perception of global becomes analytical focuses on some elements that had been intuitively introduced previously. Finally, there is the synthesis phase – to deepen the notions and grammatical rules encountered throughout the lesson.

Single lessons can also be customised.
The courses may have different durations according to the needs of the students.

Workshops and meeting in person and/or online are also part of the training offered to bring real places of cultural exchange to life.

Teaching a foreign language, using the passions of individual students or the most popular topics from the class makes everything more motivating and pleasant.

The Workshops

To approach the Italian language and culture or deepen your knowledge by following your passions, you can choose to work for groups and for periods of time – to be established together in the workshops that will be held by professionals in the sector who, together with myself, will make each appointment a special and fun lesson.

And, finally, travel

Traveling allows us to expand our horizons, taste traditional foods, visit places never seen before, listen to new music, see works of art and much more.

Travel allows us to experience the differences that exist between populations and is therefore fundamental to bring down cultural boundaries and understand how each country has different traditions, in order that we may better appreciate our own.

There is nothing better than a trip to the country of the target language in order to master it.

My educational offer would be incomplete without the possibility of visiting particularly beautiful and interesting destinations, in Italy, where students can practice and discover closely what we study in our lessons. It will also be nice to choose the destinations together!

If we reflect, above all, a journey begins in a library, a class, surfing on the net and it is precisely on paper that the first trip is made through the student’s fantasies, as a reader who travels with the mind.

It is through reading a text together, commenting on an image, or listening to a song that we get the idea of a place, the thought of a journey to then leave and verify its tangible and concrete existence.

“The journey is listening”. It will be fantastic to learn Italian through listening, for example, to sections of one of the many novels about Commissioner Montalbano by A. Camilleri. WE can dream about and imagine the locations of the wonderful Sicily he described and then actually visit those places and discover, in real life, so much beauty.

Departures can be organised for groups and with different durations, depending on needs.
